Abstract Increasing of ballast layer bearing capacity is a widespread problem during the operation and maintenance railway track nowadays. It known that with an increase passed tonnage, tends to become contaminated both by products its own crushing external weeds which rapidly leads strength operational characteristics degradation crushed stone ballast. In this study, attempt was made simulate effect cyclic load from rolling stock on determine extent wear category II in accordance GOST 7392.
